Two WES Limited Edition Pens To Celebrate The Coronation of King Charles III.
WES celebrates the Coronation of King Charles III with a pair of superb pens from Onoto in the same dark blue resin as our recent and very popular WES Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee pen. Each of the pen styles will be numbered in limited editions of just 74 being the same as King Charles’ age at the time of his accession. The barrel is engraved with individual edition numbering and WES logo.
Both Coronation pen styles will feature a stunning, delicate engraving based on detail from the ceiling of Westminster Abbey and echoing the shape of the much-loved Abbey Rose Windows. The design illustrates both operational and traditional aspects of Kingship, with a central crown symbolising the monarch. Surrounding this is a design of birds, acorns and oak leaves based on the original gilding of St Edwards chair and representing growth and new life as a tribute to King Charles’ personal and long-time affinity for the environment.
The first of these pen styles will have a sterling silver cap overlay carrying the engraving. The second will have the engraving cut directly into the resin cap itself and highlighted with a silver fill. Both will have a broad silver cap band bearing a large size Coronation silver hallmark. In the case of the silver overlay pen, this will be heavily gold-plated sterling silver. On the resin pen, it will be highly polished sterling silver. The cap button features a deeply engraved Coronation emblem designed by Sir Jony Ive which he describes as ‘a design inspired by King Charles' love of the planet, nature, and his deep concern for the natural world’. The barrel-end button carries the King’s CRIII cypher as designed and recently released by the College of Heralds.
The silver overlay pen will be supplied in a large dark blue lacquered presentation box and the resin version in the same burgundy lacquered box as the Jubilee Pen. Both will feature a fine brushed aluminium label engraved again with the Ive’s Coronation emblem and the title and edition number of the pen. Both the silver overlay cap and engraved resin pens are available to WES members at just £600 and £360 respectively. The normal retail (and non-member) prices are £895 and £475. The No.7 Onoto nib is available in a choice of fine, medium and broad and can be supplied in 18ct gold as an option at an additional £180.
